How to Join and Membership Costs
To join, please pay the membership fee to the treasurer on the coach, or by post to the Secretary. Membership fees are £7.00 a year for adults, £3.00 a year for children under 18. We also offer a family membership, where the second or more children are free. For insurance purposes we ask that new members please pay their membership fees by their second walk, and that continuing members pay on their first walk of the calendar year. You can pay by cash or cheque (payable to ‘Lancaster Fellwalkers’). We currently do not accept credit cards or online payments.

Information for New Members
What happens when I have booked a seat on the coach?
What happens when I have booked a seat on the coach?
- Please turn up at your pick-up point before the coach is due to leave.
- Please bring appropriate clothing and equipment and adequate food and drink for the day. Spare clothing is essential – some days we get very wet. This clothing can be left on the coach during the day.
- Find a seat on the coach – anywhere you like. Rucksacks can be placed in the storage compartment.
- The treasurer will collect your coach fare on the outward journey (£8 for adults, £4 for under-18’s). New members will not be asked to pay their subscriptions until they are on their second walk with us. You will not be covered by our insurance policies until you’re a paid-up member.
- On the way to our destination there will be a short stop for announcements. At this point you’ll hear about the days’ walks: start and finish points, distance to be walked, expected finish time etc. There may also be announcements about other club activities, such as weekends away. This will also be a toilet stop.
- If you are unsure about which walk to join, please talk to the members around you and ask for advice from the leaders. Generally speaking, don’t be too ambitious: you can always choose a harder walk next time.
- Be ready to leave the coach with the walk leader.
- On the walk itself, please listen carefully to the leader’s instructions. They will have spent time planning the walk and organising lunch breaks. Please stay with your group at all times, especially in misty conditions.
- At the end of the walk there is usually time for refreshments.
- On the return journey you will be asked if you would like to book a place on the next walk. This is by far the easiest way to book a seat. You can also telephone 01524 858243 to book if you prefer (await return call for confirmation).
